Sunday 11th Nov 2018 – DF65 Autumn series Round 5
As everyone will be aware this coming Sunday 11 Nov 2018 sees the 100th Anniversary of the end of The Great War.
Coalhouse fort and the surrounding grounds played an important role during WW1 as both a defence of London location and as a training and embarkation point for men and women who were going off to war.
This anniversary is being marked with acts of respect around the globe and it is felt that we should also join in with our mark of respect to the men and women of all nations who fell.
To this end on Sunday 11 Nov all boats will be taken off the water by 10:55 am, any race in progress being abandoned. A two min silence will be observed at 11am in line with all other acts of remembrance.
Sunday 25th November 2018 – IOM monthly
Annually each year the Coalhouse Fort Project holds a service of remembrance. With this year marking the 100th Anniversary a larger than normal event will be taking place.
The club has a very close relationship with the Project and in deference to their act of remembrance and service on this day. Boats will be taken off the water by 10:55 am, any race in progress being abandoned.
A two min silence will be observed at 11am in line with the Project.
In both cases the race officer of the day will signal the end of the observance and our activities will be resumed.
