IOM 9 May 2018

A beautiful day at the lake today, warm sun and light wind greeted a depleted fleet of just four skippers arriving. Holidays, illness and boat issues all contributing in one way or another to the turnout. It was with great pleasure that we welcomed Alan Bevan back to our water after a good couple of years absence.

With Keith suffering issues with his electrics it meant only three boats could take to the water. An early decision was made not to record any scores from races, instead we would enjoy a day of relaxed informal racing. This turned the day into one which everyone enjoyed immensely with some very close racing in the changeable light wind. Boats were swapped around between skippers and turns taken to have a rest to give Keith the opportunity to sail, this aspect of using an unfamiliar boat added to the challenge of the light shifty wind conditions.

All in all a good day and being one with the totally relaxed atmosphere of informal racing will encourage Alan to make a permanent return to our fleet.
