Round 3 of the Autumn Dragon Force 65 Sunday Championship Series took place on 5th November 2017. It was a chilly day with the wind primarily from the WNW which, because it was influenced by the Fort, caused some holes and swirls at times creating difficulties for some skippers.
It was windward/leeward course at the northern end of the lake, starting between marks 4 and 5, a beat to mark 1, downwind to mark 4, beat to mark 1, downwind to 4 all on port and finish between marks 1 and 2.
Most skippers were on A+ Rigs although a few were on A Rig which meant they were at a slight disadvantage when the wind strength did drop, although Keith Gray did manage a first with his A Rig.
Having missed the first two races with a rudder issue, John Newton managed to recover and win five of the next seven races. The rest of the race wins were taken by Dave Bland (2) Terry Wright (1) and Keith Gray (1). As a consequence this left John Newton the overall winner on 9 points, with Dave Bland second on 21 points and Terry Wright and Dennis Graham joint third on 26 points, with Terry taking the third position based on his first place.
This now leaves Dave Bland leading the Autumn Dragon Force 65 Sunday Championship Series with 29 points, followed by Keith Gray on 23 points and John Newton third on 22 points.

Just a quick reminder that next Sunday 12th November 2017 is Round 1 of the Frozen Feet for Dragon Flite 95 boats so they will have priority on the lake. Dragon Force 65’s can sail provided they keep clear of the Dragon Flite 95 course, and that means NOT using the DF95 marks at any time!
