Wednesday 1st November 2017 was Round 4 of the Mid-week IOM Championship Series on a bright but chilly day. The wind was a light breeze initially at about 8mph primarily from the SSW veering to SW at times, but dropped after lunch to virtually nothing.
It was a windward/leeward course in the middle of the lake, starting between marks 8 and 9, a beat to mark 12, downwind to X, a beat back to 12, downwind to X and finish between marks 7 and 8.
We welcomed Dave Sellens back after a long lay off, albeit for a short time, but good to see him sailing again.
There was some real close sailing between John Newton, John Horsfield and Geoff Appleton, all taking a win at various times. However, John Newton was more consistent and as a consequence took the overall win with 8 points followed by John Horsfield on 13 points and Geoff Appleton third on 16 points.
This now leaves John Newton leading the Autumn Mid-week IOM Championship on 11 points followed by John Horsfield and Geoff Appleton both on 8 points.
