Round 8, the penultimate round of the Monthly Mid-week IOM Championship Series took place on what was a warm cloudy Wednesday 27th September 2017. There was a good steady breeze at about 10mph gusting to 12 mph initially from the East South East veering to South East as the day went on.
It was a windward/leeward at the Northern end of the lake, starting between marks 1 and 2, a beat to X, downwind to 1, a beat to X, downwind to 1 and finish between marks 4 and 5.
We welcomed Geoff Appleton back from holiday, Dave Crane for his first IOM race at Coalhouse Fort RYC and a guest, Andy from Huntingdon.
Although Graham Bartholomew had a couple of issues loosing control of his boat, his overall consistency enabled to take the overall win on 8 points. John Newton started had a couple of bad starts for the first two races, but then pulled himself together to take second on 16 points. It was then a very close fight between Andy Seymour, Dave Crane and John Horsfield, with Andy managing to scrape it with 25 points, from Dave and then John Horsfield.
This now leaves Graham Bartholomew still leading the Mid-week IOM Monthly Championship Series on 32 points, followed by John Newton on 24 points and Geoff Appleton third on 20 points.
