Round 10 0f the Summer Mid-week IOM Championship Series took place on Wednesday 6th September 2017 on what was an overcast day. The wind varied between WSW and NW throughout the day creating some difficulties at times. Race 1 was a windward/leeward course in the middle of the lake starting between marks 8 and 9, a beat down to 12, down to X, back to 12, down to X and then finish between marks 7 and 8. However, with the wind varying as it was, the course was moved to the northern end of the lake, still a windward/leeward course, starting between marks 4 and 5, a beat to 2, down to X, back to 2, down to X and finish between marks 1 and 2.
With the wind changes as they were, there was a certain amount of luck involved, but due to his better consistency, John Newton was able to take three wins giving him the overall win on the day with 9 points. There was then a very closely fought out fight for second, third and fourth, with John Horsfield, Geoff Appleton and Andy Seymour all ending up with 14 points. However, with two wins and two seconds, John Horsfield managed to take second place, with Geoff Appleton third and Andy Seymour fourth.
With 2 rounds to go, John Newton now leads the Summer Mid-week IOM Championship on 20 points closely followed by John Horsfield in second on 19 points and Graham Bartholomew third on 18 points.
