Round 6 of the Spring Mid-week IOM Championship Series took place on Wednesday 10th May 2017, on what was a warm sunny day with a strong breeze primarily from the ENE. This created a slight problem with course setting but eventually it was a windward/leeward course in the middle of the lake. Starting between mark 12 and the bank, up to 9, down to 13, back to 9, down to 13 and finish between 11 and 12 all to port.
Graham Bartholomew is gradually settling in with his new boat as can be seen by his consistent wins apart from two races, one of which he failed to finish. There was some close racing between the rest of the fleet, but John Newton was able to hold off Andy Seymour, even having to borrow Dave Sellens ‘Pink Panther’ for the final two races.
And so on the day, Graham Bartholomew was first with 8 points, followed by John newton on 14 points and Andy Seymour, even with his damaged thumb, third on 18 points.
With the first discard coming into effect, Graham Bartholomew now leads the Spring Mid-week IOM Championship series on 5 points, followed by John Newton on 6 points and Geoff Appleton and Malcolm Schaffer joint third on 11 points.
