Round 5 of the Spring Mid-week IOM Championship series took place on Wednesday 3rd May and it was an overcast day with some drizzle but no heavy rain. With the wind primarily from the NE but veering to ENE at times, it was a windward/leeward course at the northern end of the lake. The start was between marks 5 and 6, up to 3, down to 7, back to 3, down to 7 and finish between 5 and 6.
With no Colin Goodman or Vernon Appleton, this allowed some other skippers to show their skills, especially when Graham Bartholomew also had to retire due to a faulty rudder to servo linkage (NOT SHROUDS), on his new boat.
As a consequence, John Newton was the overall winner on the day with 8 points, followed by Geoff Appleton with 14 points and Malcolm Schaffer third with 23 points.

With regards the Annual League,Vernon Appleton continues to lead on 1036 points, followed by Colin Goodman with 800 points and Graham Bartholomew third with 543 points.
