Some 12 skippers turned up on Sunday 30th April for Dragon Force 65 sailing, although two, namely, Rodney Latham and Dave Sellens both experienced issues during the first race.
It was a strong breeze varying between ENE and ESE which created problems in terms of selecting a suitable course, which was eventually two rounds of a triangle. The start was between 7 and the bank, up to the ‘T’ mark, down to mark 5, back to 7, up to ‘T’ and finish between 5 & 6 .
Whilst most skippers started on No. 1 sails it became evident that No. 2 sails were potentially the better choice. Glenn Meekcoms on No. 2 sails struggled in the first two races, he eventually got his act together and better consistency made him the overall winner on the day with 23 points. Jim La Roche on No. 1 sails also struggled with the conditions in the first two races but again got his act together to come second with 30 points. Keith Gray, one of our newer members showed both his sailing experience and the benefit of spending an afternoon with Buzz Coleman mentoring and eventually ended the day on third with 38 points.

It would be great if we could get this number of skippers out on a regular basis, so that we could actually start a Sunday series!! May be something we could start in May??
