Round 10 of the Winter Mid-week IOM Championship Series took place on Wednesday 8th March 2017. It was a strange day in that it was initially overcast and then the sun came out and there was a brief shower. However, there was a good breeze, primarily from the SW, which remained relatively constant allowing a windward/leeward course at the southern end of the lake, until the last race when the wind changed a new windward/leeward course at the northern end of the lake.
With a complete set of new marks, courtesy of Geoff Appleton with help from Colin Goodman in placing them, there are now several opportunities to develop new courses dependent on wind direction for the future.
Colin Goodman was in his normal form only missing out on first place twice, one of which was a technical issue, meaning he was the overall winner with 7 points, followed by Vernon Appleton on 12 points and John Newton third on 20 points. Graham Bartholomew suffered another glitch with either the rudder servo or receiver which meant he had to retire after four races.
After 3 discards, Vernon Appleton still leads the Winter Mid-week IOM Championship on 8 points, followed by Colin Goodman on 10 points and Geoff Appleton third on 20 points.
With regards to the Annual League, Vernon Appleton again still leads this on 796 points, followed by Colin Goodman on 500 points and Geoff Appleton third on 339 points.
Round 11, the penultimate round of the Winter Mid-week IOM Championship Series will take place on Wednesday 15th March 2017.
