Seven Skippers contested round 5 of the Dragon Flite 95 ‘Frozen Feet’ Winter Championship Series on a warm but windy Sunday 26th February 2017. Initially the 10 mph SW wind saw everyone starting on B rigs, but by race 4 those who had them available had changed down to C rigs. The course, consisting 2 triangles & a short beat to the finish, remained unchanged throughout the day, despite the wind shifting more Southerly as the day progressed.
The strong winds caused some problems with George Pattern, Jim La Roche & Adrian Tomlinson all suffering rig failures & Howard Dalton sitting out some races due to not having a C rig. We were joined by Mike Weston for most of the day who stood in for Buzz as race officer. Despite the challenging conditions, the few penalties incurred were taken on the water & the fleet sailed with the now customary good humour & banter whilst enjoying some very spectacular racing.
After 8 races the remaining skippers decide to call a halt to the day in order to prevent further damage to the yachts.
Congratulations to Angela on the overall win.
