Round 8 of the Mid-week IOM Championship Series took place on Wednesday 22nd February 2017. It was an overcast day with a strong wind from the WSW and so it was a windward/leeward course at the south end of the lake. Whilst it turned cold and the wind gusted at times throughout the day the course stayed the same.
John Horsfield had a rudder right from the start and so was unable to even start racing, whilst Graham Bartholomew also had a rudder issue initially he was able to sort it. However as the wind increased in strength, Graham suffered yet further shroud breakages and do retired from the last three races.
With 6 wins, Vernon Appleton was the overall winner, with 8 points, followed by Andy Seymour with 18 points and Geoff Appleton third with 20 points.
