Round 5 of the Mid-week IOM Championship Series took place on Wednesday 1st February 2017 on what was an overcast and damp day. The wind was a strong breeze veering from SSE to SSW throughout the day but remaining reasonably constant in strength. This allowed two rounds of windward/leeward course at the southern end of the lake.
We welcomed the return of Graham Bartholomew who had chartered Dave Sellens MX16, whilst awaiting delivery of his new boat!! With some changes to the rig set up, Graham was soon back on course but was unable to beat the winner on the day, Vernon Appleton. John Newton only completed three races as he had another appointment to get to.
So, Vernon was the overall winner on the day with 6 points, followed by Graham Bartholomew on 12 points and Geoff Appleton third on 19 points.
Being round 5 we have a first discard so Vernon Appleton now leads the Winter Mid-week IOM Championship Series on 4 points, followed by Colin Goodman on 7 points and John newton third on 9 points.
With regards the Annual League, Vernon Appleton also leads this on 358 points, followed by Colin Goodman on 200 points, with John Newton third on 135 points.
Round 6 of the Winter Mid-week IOM Championship Series will take place on Wednesday 8th February 2017.
