Round 4 of the Winter Mid-week IOM Championship Series took place on a cold and misty Wednesday 25th January 2017. There was a reasonable breeze which started from the SE but then backed to the ESE and then veered between between the two.
Peter Herbert suffered various issues and eventually retired after a few races, whilst Vernon Appleton seemed to suffer some minor issues at times, allowing John Newton and Malcolm Schaffer to take a few wins between them.
At the end of the day, Vernon and John both finished on 9 points but Vernon was the overall winner based four wins versus John’s 3, with Malcolm third on 12 points.
This now leaves Vernon Appleton leading the Winter Mid-week IOM Championship Series on 5 points, followed by Colin Goodman on 7 points and John newton third on 10 points.
Looking at the Annual League, Vernon Appleton also leads this on 258 points, followed by Colin Goodman on 200 points and John Newton third on 135 points. League points are awarded based on the following: Points = (S – F)/(S – 1)/100 Where S = Number of Yachts competing and F = Actual Finishing Position.
Round 5 of the Winter Mid-week IOM Championship Series will take place on Wednesday 1st February 2017.
