It was a very cold but sunny Sunday 22nd January 2017 with virtually no wind when seven skippers arrived at the lake. As skippers prepared their boats, the wind started to increase very slightly, primarily from the SE.
With the very light wind, two rounds of a short windward/leeward course was set in the middle of the lake. As the day went on, the wind backed to ESE and E at times, but increased in strength enabling some good racing to take place.
Unfortunately Malcolm Schaffer continues to suffer with what appeared to be a Transmitter/Receiver issue and so retired after the first race. Steve Bines had issues in getting the jib to go out and tried the original dragon sails with some success, achieving a second and third, but then suffered further issues.
With eight wins, John Newton was the winner on the day with 8 points, followed by Dave Bland on 15 points and George Patten third on 27 points.
Next Sunday, 29th January 2017 is round 4 of the Dragon Flite 95 Winter Series Championship, and we look forward to seeing all you Dragon Flite 95 skippers turning out in force!!
