With a number of rounds not completed, due to bad weather and other various reasons, round 7 of the Autumn Mid-week IOM Championship Series took place on Wednesday 16th November 2016. It was a bright sunny day with a strong breeze 16 mph gusting to 30 mph primarily from the WSW and backing to SW from time to time.
It was at the top of No.1 sails, which made it quite testing at times, especially on the run with some nose diving, but it was good racing. Unfortunately Malcolm Schaffer suffered electrical problems and so further racing was abandoned for the day. With three wins John Newton was the overall winner with Geoff Appleton second and Malcolm Schaffer third.
By default this now leaves John Newton leading the Autumn Mid-week IOM Championship Series on 4 points followed by Graham Bartholomew on 5 points and Vernon Appleton third on 6 points.
We would hope to see a few more IOM skippers participating next week for Round 8.
