Some ten skippers arrived at Coalhouse Fort for round 1 of the ‘Frozen Feet’ Winter Series for Dragon Flite 95 boats, on a foggy Sunday morning with little or no wind. By the time Race Officer, Buzz Coleman, was ready to start racing, the fog had started to clear but there was little change in the wind which initially was coming primarily from the ESE at about 2 mph. As the day went on the wind became more easterly and strengthened slightly more to about 4 – 5 mph, which caused Buzz to change course several times during the day, although it remained a windward/leeward course.
From early on it was evident that Buzz Coleman, Dennis Graham and Glenn Meekcoms were going to challenge for the top three positions. However, with his greater consistency Buzz was the overall winner on the day 0n 17 points, followed by Dennis Graham on 23 points and Glenn Meekcoms third on 25 points.
Whilst the lack of wind did create some problems and the skippers appeared to be frustrated at times, they seemed to enjoy the event overall.
