Round 11 of the Mid-week IOM Championship Series took place on Wednesday 14th September. It was an extremely hot day with the wind initially from the ENE but during the first race it changed to SSW allowing a windward/leeward course at the southern end of the lake. So, starting between marks 7 and 11 down to initially 5, but eventually 12, back to 11 and then 12 back to 11 to finish between 5 and 12.
Dave Sellens turned up with his new MX16, Pink Panther and with a little help from Graham Bartholomew managed to complete a number of races before having to leave early. In the meantime Graham Bartholomew suffered a winch problem that was not really fixable at the lake.
In the absence of Graham, apart from Vernon Appleton who was the overall winner on the day with 7 points, this left the field open to the rest of the group to fight out the second and third places. However, with some consistent sailing John Newton (10 points) and John Lambert (16 points) were able to take second and third respectively.
With one round left in the Summer Mid-week IOM Championship Series, Vernon Appleton retains his lead on 8 points, followed by Graham Bartholomew with 12 points and John Lambert third on 18 points.
