Round 11, the penultimate round, of the Spring Mid-week IOM Championship Series took place on Wednesday 15th June 2016. It started off as a pleasant day with the wind primarily from the SW and the course was a windward/leeward course, starting between mark 11 and the windsock on the bank, up to mark 12, back to mark 10 and round again, finishing between marks 7 and 11. This remained the case until just before lunch when the wind backed to more SE and so the course was moved along the lake to the next set of marks, but still a windward/leeward course. An early lunch was taken when a heavy squall came through, following which the course was moved back to basically the original course, but again the skies looked very heavy with thunder around and so racing was abandoned for the day.
Colin Goodman had yet another good day, although a rudder issue caused him a problem in race 5, but this did not stop him winning overall on the day on 7 points, followed by Vernon Appleton on 10 points and Graham Bartholomew on 16 points. We welcomed John Lambert with his IOM for the first time, but unfortunately he suffered a winch problem and so did not complete the last two races, whilst Malcolm Schaffer suffered numerous issues, meaning he only completed three races.
This being the penultimate round of the Spring Mid-week IOM Championship Series, Colin Goodman continues to lead with 7 points, followed by Vernon Appleton on 13 points and Graham Bartholomew third just one point back on 14 points.
