Sunday 5th June was a good day for sailing, although the wind did vary in strength and direction throughout the day. It was a lovely sunny day with a strong breeze primarily from the NE but veering to the ENE from time to time. However, the course remained the same, being a triangle and sausage in the middle of the lake with all port rounding.
Whilst John Newton seemed to get the better starts and wind it was very close behind with John Lambert, John Weedon and Malcolm Schaffer all taking three second places at various times. It was John Lambert’s consistency, which earned him a first place in race 4 and several third places, which enabled him to take second place overall.
So, at the end of the day, John Newton was the overall winner with 8 points, followed by John Lambert on 19 points and John Weedon third on 24 points.
Please note there will be no Dragon Force 65 racing at the lake next Sunday 12th June as it is round 5 of the PRACC Series for ‘A’ Class Boats. If Dragon Force 65 skippers wish to use the lake, please bear in mind that the ‘A’ Class Boats will have priority over the sailing area, so you will be expected to keep clear at all times – thank you.
Also, please note, Sunday 19th June is Round 2 of the Coalhouse Fort Dragon Force 65 Open Monthly Championship, so let’s get those boats trimmed and ready to race!!
