Round 2 of the Spring Mid-week IOM Championship Series took place on Wednesday 13th April 2016. We were greeted by a restriction in the car park and so had to park on the grass where we normally park for open meetings. It transpired that they were scheduled to start filming a period drama ‘Taboo’ about the East India Dock company, tomorrow.
It was a nice warm day, but an awful wind initially basically from the South. However, throughout the day it varied from virtually nothing to a light breeze backing from S to E and all points in between. We started with a windward/leeward course at the south end of the lake, but after lunch moved to the middle of the lake and finally ended up at the North end of the lake.
We welcomed Alan Bevan back into the fold and it took a little time to get back into the swing of sailing again. We also welcomed Andy Seymour, both of whom had some closes races. Overall the winner was Colin Goodman on 8 points followed by Graham Bartholomew on 15 points with Vernon Appleton and Malcolm Schaffer equal on 34 points but Vernon taking third based on count back.
This now leaves Graham Bartholomew leading the Spring Mid-week IOM Championship Series on 3 points, followed by Colin Goodman and Vernon Appleton on 6 points, with Colin taking second place based on count back.
